This time around in John Wick Chapter 2, they pulled him back in, because he was no longer retired right? He fought it and paid a price. So then he decides it is time to fulfill his promise. At this point, your are thrust into a rich, deep, and many layered worlds. The world in which the massive amount of violence takes place is brilliantly painted. You feel the rules, you feel the fact there are more players than you know. The hidden society of assassins has rules, structures and it's brilliantly rendered. Yes, the action in this movie is awe inspiring, but the background, the trappings, the characters, are all of the highest quality. If you enjoy hyper action and large body counts this movie has it, but it also has a rich and well-done story in a well-crafted world. I really liked this movie, and it looks like there will be a third, I hope.

I was worried before watching this movie. I really believe it could end up exactly like "Taken 2" which was take everything you loved in the first movie and don't do it. Fortunately, this movie does not end up like that at all. It adds onto what you loved in the first movie. Intense and well-choreographed action scenes. Increasing the world building. Adding on to John wick's backstory and character. While the action scenes are certainly more impressive and you can clearly see the increased budget of the sequel has certainly been used properly. It never quite has the same impact as the first movies clubhouse action scene. Furthermore, in the first movie his dog dies which actually had more investment as he came back out of love and revenge. In this movie however it feels rather forced and he just came back because of reasons. It also gets a bit unbelievable near the end but this is just the world John wick is and I guess I can deal with that.
This is such a good movie!! I admit, I'm more than a little crazy about Keanu Reeves, but my admiration aside, this movie is excellent. I love a good action film and this has all the ingredients for an awesome action pic. It gives a little more insight into this underworld of hit men, gold coins and "dinner reservations". There's nothing overstated or obvious, just little moments here and there that gives this subtle hint at a bigger crime world and powerful characters to come. There's also hints that Winston is a much bigger player than just the owner of the Continental. Some action films feel like the action or fights are over-acted or trying too hard, others have too many slow dialogue scenes that are not really necessary to the story arch, this is NOT one of those films. This is the very definition of an action-packed thrill ride. I can't wait to go see it again!
