Stylistically, this has to be one of the best action movies out there, as everything is done creatively to make things feel properly fresh and new. That exists from the way the whole thing is shot, to how it's scored and cut together, and even to how the action is choreographed. In fact, in that sense, it rather feels like it's dragging the genre (and it's star) into a new style era. On that note, Keanu Reeves proves he ain't given up yet; delivering one hell of a badass performance indeed. Take away all the shiny stuff and it isn't really anything new at all. That's not really a problem, it's just that other films have provided a more engaging experience for me with more likable and relatable leads.
VERDICT: 'John Wick' is a very nice film to behold, but if you're looking for a story to emotionally engage you, others do it better.
John Wick is not just a guy dressed up for a dramatic entrance, but to handle business, that should not be disturbed. Forget the dramatic entrance, it is what happen when he enters into, that will make eyes widen, just do not be nowhere close to him when he in action. The movie, "It achieves an almost impossible goal being a basically plotless action/revenge drama but seeming utterly distinct all the same" (Sims).
The movie John Wick is a compelling visual for audiences that seek a vengeful, combatting, non-merciful character base. John Wick is a killing machine basically; a man who kills anyone in his way using: guns, knives, car chargers, wires, and hand combat. An audience that's expecting a breathtaking movie including multiple altercations with combat skills, weaponry, and ultimate awesomeness would be thwarted. "Audiences going to see John Wick expecting something ironic or skewed might exit disappointed" (Sims). Nonstop combat, excessive blood, quick dramatic killing scene, don't know how to describe without using the words: combat, killing, vengeance; is that a bit ironic? \
Death, revenge is the moral of John Wick, the movie wouldn't be the same without it because that is all it consists is vengeance. It does not matter what comes his way, he can resist it, the honest question is, is it worth dying for? It is a suicide mission to even try to assassinate the ultimate assassin which is John Wick. But was it worth a shot for a reward of two million dollars doubling to four million dollars? Now he has been injured physically and emotionally, but he has not died; no one has injured him severely enough to stop him. Only one person actually fought with John Wick and escaped, but later on in the movie they meet again (roads crossed), and well he is dead (not John, of course). He is a human being with feeling and great coordination and completely focused, so watch out. John Wick is a good, movie if an action pack movie is in mind, killing nonstop, vengeance is present, so take a seat and enjoy the movie. John Wick was robbed, beaten, and his dog was killed; there was no mercy shown, so why should he display any.
John Wick is an assassin seeking revenge and will murder anyone standing in his way. John Wick had assassins sent his home to kill him, he didn't know them and it was a simple in and out the job. Let's rewind, John Wick was robbed and beaten by Iosef and his comrades, killed his dog, stole the car, and then damaged his deceased wife car. He has one goal and that is to kill Yosef, does not care who he has to encounter, no set destination, just kill Yosef. When John Wick says, "So you can either hand over your son or you can die screaming alongside him!" get the hell out of the way, he told that to the father, now he used to work alongside with the father, and now he is being threatened. Just imagined being related to the one that is in danger and a relationship with the assassin, which one to assist? Good question, more like life or death? There is not a right or wrong answer, but there is, either way, death is summoned by the assassin or the one in danger. Now technically from the assassin point of view and anyone related to the person is already dead. It couldn't be better described than in the movie, "It's like he has unlocked a box labeled "DO NOT OPEN" and must deal with the consequences (Sims), a bit scary. Due to the determination that John Wick has in seeking vengeance and not veering off, getting distracted; he accomplished his one goal. Kill Yosef. It is good to stay out of the way of a dangerous issue because nothing good comes of it, and John Wick is the perfect the film to the demonstration of what could if happened to mess with the wrong person and try to help or stop the altercation.
John Wick is a badass. He is a guy that is not to be crossed. Just think about it when someone says, "That "fuckin' nobody"... is John Wick(Tarasov). That dot dot dot is "John Wick" the fact that Tarasov had to take a minute to say his name, it is kind of like an emphasis like "it's a big deal" to mess with him. Imagine not being able to compromise and Tarasov say it so well, "John will come for you. And you will do nothing because you can do nothing" (Tarasov), point taken. Might as well just write a will, and sit back and enjoy the rest of life or time, that is left. The funny part is that no one that had any sense of what he is capable him, tried him. Enough said John Wick is a bad ass, don't cross paths with him. He is John Wick, no better referred to the "one you sent to kill the fuckin' Boogeyman" (Tarasov). How petrifying is that? Know what, enough said, time to wrap it up as to why this movie should be watched, not once because it enough action and vengeance to watch, some scenes are just meant for a playback. A man filled with anger and concentration, no one is to get in the way of him, and he has little to say really, just stay out of the way. He is running and pacing, a lion in search of their prey and willing to go nonstop at any speed to get what he wants. So just sit back and watch the movie.
John Wick movie is unrealistic. How could the people in the club still dance and act as though nothing is happening? No, there is not three dead lying on the dance floor, just keep having a good. Now in reality, if someone sees another person get shot and dies they would evacuate automatically, ASAP. When Winston, the owner of the "Red Circle" club specifically told him, "You know the rules no handling business at the Continental (Winston), and John Wick says, "It's personal" (Wick), then it is magically excusable for him. The rules that are standard and unbreakable for the other assassin (Ms. Perkin), who serious consequence was death, just was not for John Wick. So, vengeance is the reason he can go around killing people, expressing his anger. From the way he hammered the concrete; anger problems are present and anger management is needed. If everyone acted on vengeance would it be excused, because how severe the issue was? John Wick assassinated men because of a dog and some men beat him up. Now if the killing just occurred when he was in the presence of the men who beat him up with a bat, stole his car, and killed the dog; it would be somewhat understandable. The police had seen dead bodies lying around in his house and did not arrest him. The police just showed up to just show up, because a complaint, a noise complaint and that was it. So anger should not provoke death of many men and should be allowed because, in the real world, a man would be persecuted and sent to jail; or sent to a death penalty. One cannot act on vengeance because then anyone should be able to do so. The rules are broken and it happens to be no consequences, how unrealistic is that. If the movie John Wick was supposed to show what will happen in reality if someone is crossed and rules are broken, then there shouldn't be any consequence for even the assassin seeking revenge.
John Wick did not die. He had assistance in the movie, a man with a sniper that was at his location when he was about to die. Yeah, John Wick was shot, kicked, and knocked out; but he would not die because then the movie would be over. It would have been nice if he died or came exceedingly close to death, then had an operation, that is what brought him back to life, then the emphasis on his name would be somewhat logical. He was injured, like when he had stitches, and was attacked that same night a with a supposedly broken arm and somehow he survived from Ms. Perkins constantly hitting him in the exact spot where the stitches are located. He took off the cloth and attacked Ms. Perkins with like his arm was not just broken. Like, what was the impossible task that he completed, maybe he had assistance from the man with the sniper, but that is unknown to the audience. Just imagine if he did not have help, the movie would never have lasted that long or if he resurrected by the sound of his wife, like the way Jason did in all his movies. Tarasov stated something that I just had to agree, "And while it was open, you had every chance, every opportunity to kill John Wick. And if you had done your job, my son would be still alive!" (Tarasov), which is also true. The son would still be alive, and all those men that died would still be alive. Marcus could have ended the entire movie for us, but the writer of the script had something else in mind. If the movie was based on real life morals and reality John Wick would have died like sometime in the middle of the movie. He would have never got away from that one scene in the hotel with the altercation with Ms. Perkins and Marcus.
John Wick is a good movie why, well it just mainly consists of action and it is a revengeful, plotless movie. It has only one goal: kill one man (Josef), but instead there are numerous men dying left to right with anything that is tangible. There is now way dissatisfaction can exist after the movie end, yeah John Wick does not die and he had assistance, but he still kicked a lot of asses, so sit back and enjoy the movie.
